Android Auto - Peugeot Partner

Does this Android Auto always need to have a USB lead plugged in ?
I have a 2021 Peugeot Partner van, the one with the new big screen sticking up and out.
There is no built in navigation, instead, it seems that I need to permanently have my phone plugged in, to get G o o g l e maps, or W a z e .
Is this right?
The telephone pare works bluetooth, so wirelessly, why do I need to have my phone plugged in for navigation ?

Yes you need it plugged in, Bluetooth will read messages and emails but for nav you need the lead

Thats a bit of a pain having it plugged in for sat nav.
Might as well just use the phone nav screen.

So there are no maps in the new screen ?
