Cassette Radio help
Discussion
Hi Guys,
looking for some advice on cassette player radios for my MK2 Golf. I want something that looks classic to keep the period look that my car has but as I was born after 2000 I have absolutely no knowledge on what's good and what sucks. I would ideally like something with cool looking 80's lights and EQ lights because it's cool. Any advice would be appreciated.
I was also looking to use a Blaupunkt BEA80 EQ panel (if I couldn't get a radio with EQ and because the lights look cool) but again have no clue how these fit and work together with the radio. Also not sure if they can only be used with Blaupunkt radios or if they would work with a more modern Blaupunk like a Bremen.
Any help appreciated
Dylan

I can only think of two cd players that look retro.
Nakamichi (they also do cassette)
McIntosh which is quite pricey
In theory you should be able to use the Blau EQ but it depends on panel input/output.
Both are cool brands but there are many other brands too. An old Alpine would probably look good too and many of them had eq built in.
Are you looking to replace the cassette with a cd or keep it cassette?? Or keep it oem if it is cassette you want?

It might possibly be a bit modern in terms of styling, but I’m selling on eBay a late 90s Kenwood single-DIN system including 10 disc changer, and an extra unit that allows you to feed in an Aux input such as a 3.5mm jack cable from a phone.
Might be a bit modern, or it might be a good compromise between looking a bit older and still being able to use an iPhone to hold your music.
Has a motorised faceplate with a cassette slot behind it, so you can play tapes for that authentic hissing sound and awkward flicking between tracks. :-)
