Bluetooth for older/classic style OEM headunits
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I've got a few old VWs and I like the look of a standard head unit. I've got a Gamma 2 &3 (80s), Gamma 4 (90s) and Gamma found in the mk4.
I'm looking to get Bluetooth streaming capabilities on these units but don't fancy the one you plug into the the 12v socket.
So far I've seen the Parrot kit might suit my needs but was wondering if there was something simplier - like somehting that spliced into the wiring loom in place of say the CD player changer control or some other function on the head unit.
Any experts about on this or anyone know company that could help me out?
Cheers
Matt

Have you considered the Blaupunkt Bremen? All the classic looks with the modern tech you'd expert. Saves you messing about with electrics and stuff, should just plug and playI've got a few old VWs and I like the look of a standard head unit. Is there an AUX socket on your head unit? You can get bluetooth dongles that plug into them. I have a cheapo Anker branded one from Amazon and it works perfectly. Much better sound quality than you got from plugging the phone directly into the AUX.
No microphone though so no good for telephone calls.

Parrot used to do some fairly unobtrusive kits that fit in between the existing stereo and the speakers. Dependent on the wiring on the existing stereo (do they have ISO connectors at that age??) you might need to splice the existing wiring.
Alternatively, you used to get Bluetooth transmitters which you could then tune your radio into a certain frequency and pick up the audio stream. No good for telephone calls though.
The Echo Auto is also pretty good if the existing stereo has an analogue audio in andd you have plenty of spare data on your mobile contract. Can also do calls on it too.
