Weird question which I don’t know how best to phrase...

I have an android touch-screen stereo which has a wired remote input. The stereo can be programmed to recognise different commands to this input using the system, which most manufacturers use, via a single switched feed of differing resistance. My car has no standard steering wheel controls so I’m wanting to rig something up so I have some physical buttons to adjust volume and skip tracks. Ideally I want a small panel with 4 or more contact switches, each wired via different resistance values. Does such a thing exist?

Alternatively I could build by own maybe using a couple of universal electric window switches fed via a series of resistors, but having never used a soldering iron I’d probably make a pigs ear of it! Anyone with any better suggestions?! Ta!

What about something like this? www.amazon.co.uk/Improved-Watchband-Wireless-Backl...

I don't know if that's compatible with your head unit or not, but I guess something along those lines would be a good solution to what you're looking for - which is far easier than physically wiring something in!

Cheers, afraid not. I did actually buy a Bluetooth universal thing like that but it's locked out by the head unit annoyingly. I can get it to control my phone if I'm streaming from the phone to the head unit but not the head unit itself so useless if I'm using the apps on the head unit. Wiring would definately be a bit of a faff but if I could buy something all in one it would be fairly straight forward - a single wire between the control to the head unit and another to ground.

Yeah I had seen that one too, and yes that would do it, albeit it looks a bit naff and would probably come unstuck pretty swiftly, but functionally, yes! A ting keypad thing would be even better...
