I've bought a Audi B6 A4 2002 cab stereo, but the stereo didn't wok, seller said it was probably a fuse. I removed the stereo and sure enough rear fuse was blown. The fuse in the box looked ok, so thought good to go.

Well it didn't turn on so checked back fuse, O.K., decided to change box fuse, it fizzled and fuse blown, tried again.

So it is fizzling as i insert the fuse, any ideas?

The lowest rated fuse will blow. At the rear of the unit the fuse will normally only blow if the output stage (IC) is damaged. Fuses normally don’t blow unless something is wrong.
What is the fuse rating at the rear and in the fuse box ?

7.5 on rear, 20 in box.

i think the radio is faulty as the fuse doesn't blow when it is unplugged.

Sorry, the 7.5 is blowing on the back of the unit ? If so then yes it’s faulty.

Ok so if the 20 is blowing and the 7.5 is not, then it has be something else. Good luck .
