My daughter has a mk6 Golf and she has only 1 remote fob.
I am seeing some silly prices for a second , programed fob with the key cut to the car .
Is there an easy way around it ? without digging deep

As a side issue, most cars come with two keys. I would, therefore insist on a discount if the seller only offered one key. At least enough to re-code two new keys - I ould not trust not knowing where the second key was.

That has been done already ,got a discount to cover cost .Not ALL cars come with 2 remotes , my MX5 had 1 remote fob and 2 keys from new.

I can get a virgin blank key/remote from ebay (around £28), and an immobiliser programmer for in the region of £60 , but I don’t think the programmer is able to program the full functions of the fob .
Also many key cutting services eg Timpsons will not cut a customer supplied key
