Car stereo installation

Please can someone help. Just bought a new Sony xav-ax1000 stereo and when trying to fit it to my 2013 Peugeot partner its just not going in right. When I remove the old stereo and tray bellow I’m left with a 2 din hole but a piece of plastic in the middle which means I can’t fit the metal frame that my new stereo comes with. Am I meant to cut the price away or am I missing something or is the stereo just not compatible?

Then, yes, you're going to have to cut the dividing bit out. Looks like it wouldn't be too obvious it's missing if you ever want to put it back to OE, either.
