Possible dashcam group buy - Nextbase 622GW
Discussion
Firstly - Don't know if this is against the PH Rules ...
I've been having a look at organising a group buy for the Nextbase 622GW which is due to be released at the end of this month.
I've been in contact with 2 suppliers , discount is depending on the numbers interested and currently unconfirmed (But as interest is shown , I can update with prices)
It retails at £249.99 currently, and is 4K. You can get rear cameras that connect to these, as well as interior modules, but for the sake of a straightforward group buy, would be looking at the camera only.
Here's the marketing blurb from their website :
No payment would be to me , It would be setup by the supplier using 1 time use , unique discount codes, issued 1 per member interested , so no risk of anyone running off with someone's money. Also these are both national companies.
Can I get something of a show of hands to see who is interested to start with? Then i'll go back to the supplier and let them know if there's enough interest.
This will be in conjunction with another forum if anyone has already seen my thread over at DW.
What sort of price difference are you expecting? They appear to be the most popular brand but I can't see how it's worth that much. I expect a lot of it is getting Halfords on board.
I have had a few but cannot recommend enough the Yi WiFi dashcam I have now. Only paid £40, very clear picture, reliable and easy to download via their app. Yi themselves are a photography firm and I think are linked to Xiamoi phones too .

Another subbrand of the Xiaomi corporation is 70Mai and I've been using their dashcams for the past few years without any incidents reliability wise.

Update : A few early adopters are reporting this is not true 4k and is actually re-packaged 2k recording which does not command a higher price. Therefore cancelling this as don't want to be responsible for folks being delivered a sub-standard product.
I just spoken to Nextbase and they said it is genuine 4k at 30fps? I also cant find online reference to it being 'repackaged 2k'.Edited by Speed_Demon on Friday 7th August 20:12
