Sat-navs/Speed-trap detectors.
Discussion
Ever the place for just THE soundest advice - I've now taken delivery of me-new-motor - or new to me.
I had a 57 plate 335i Beemer - and loved it. Circumstances and life demanded a change. The change didn't work, so the search was on - found a 58 plate 335i with a Steptronic box. I'd never driven one before - and I'm working on the basis that I'll get used to it - - it's an automatic - FFS. Booting it with its selectable system plugged in, and the changes are almost unnoticeable - connecting to the supposed Sport mode, doesn't seem to make much difference - hey-ho!
They've also softened the ride a little and dulled the steering, again, not by much, but it isn't the same car. As I say, perhaps I'll come to terms with it.
Right, to the question of an aftermarket Sat-nav. I LOATH those things which stick on the windscreen and then have wiring wandering about until it gets to the fag lighter.
Is there a Sat-nav which sits on a pedestal and which can be professionally and properly fitted to the dash, and wired in to the main system? - - better still, is there one with a speed-trap/radar detector fitted to the screen side of it?
Am I asking too much? I'd be grateful for the collective advice.

You need a mobile phone running Waze.
He said he didn't want a tack-on device and dangly wires!I run Waze. I don’t even bother with the idrive now. Other than for vehicle info, range etc.

My iPhone is mounted to a magnetic induction charging cradle. The cradle is plugged in not the phone. My cable comes out the arm rest. Straight down the side of the seat between the seat and centre console. Forward and up to the cradle (mounted to an air vent in the centre console, the cable is barely visible.

If you have Apple CarPlay you can run Waze through that so it appears in the car’s screen.I run Waze. I don’t even bother with the idrive now. Other than for vehicle info, range etc.
