I want to replace the faulty original radio in my fiat coupe (1998) which is a clarion. Looked at Halfords selection but just do not know which offers good value. I simply want a half decent sound quality that I can pop a cd into or select radio station. I do not want all the fancy lights pulsing to the music type of stuff. Advise and comments please. Budget £150.

That will be the slightly odd shape unit, what’s wrong with it? If its the display then you are stuffed and replacement is required.

Thanks for reply, the radio facia pixels are failing badly and the on/off button is very unreliable now.
Several times switched off the radio and later found the radio seemingly turned itself back on!

Why not go for a modernised version of the sort of thing available at the time such as the Blaupunkt Stockholm? Now with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity etc

May I ask why you want to change it?

If it’s to add Bluetooth there may be a neat way to do it keeping what you have

The clue might be in the word faulty

Yup, but might just be the CD player, couldn’t potentially work around it by adding Bluetooth via chad changer interface

If only the op had said why he wants to change...

Perhaps this is a bit more in keeping with the existing Clarion?

Yes very similar to the Blaupunkt Stockholm I linked above. Good options

Thank you for replies.
Now 90% decided to go for the JVC KD R992BT. Appears to offer everything that I like at a very modest cost. My friends on FFCC advise that whatever replacement I go for it will be light years better than the old standard original clarion..
Also it’s likely I will swap out the speakers, at 22 years old I reckon they are passed their best!
Looking at the ‘Kicker speakers’ to fit into original speaker housings, I certainly will not consider any that would require alterations to original.
Thanks again.

Does look like quite a bargain for £80. Would be worth changing the speakers too and the speaker cable. Can all be done very reasonably if replacing just the originals that are there

^^^^^^
Just placed my order with caraudiocentre.co.uk They have an offer on at £76 with delivery.
Yes the speakers will be changed 22 years is long enough, they must be in relatively poor condition now. Hadn’t thought about the wiring tbh, perhaps I should.
