Following with interest, as I’m looking to do the same too.

I’m looking at a Pumpkin 9 version, or I understand that Atoto are supposed to be good.

I’ve heard there’s some slight size differences between the Chinese ones and the big boys named ones?

Hope this helps!

I'm also looking at getting one to breathe a bit of modernity into my old shed.

Currently looking at both the Pumpkin and Xtrons ones at around £200.

Any particular recommendations? Android 9, 4gb ram and 64gb rom seems to be top of the tree at the moment but they do seem to be too good to be true. Saying that there are plenty on ebay for less than £100.

After extensive research I binned the idea of getting a cheapo android head unit and instead gone for a Pioneer double din with android auto capability, this one;

https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/sph-da230d...

Halfords are black friday'ing them at £290 at the moment, which is only £90 more than I was budgeting for a no-name thing.

The main reason I abandoned the idea of a cheapo android unit was having done the research was that the wound quality wasn't very good, expecially through any pre-outs for amps.

I've currently got a single din Pioneer DAB in the car at the moment which sounds fantastic. The current single din unit has variable frequency cut-offs / filters but the new double din one adds time alignment and a 13 band eq as well. But most importantly has 4v pre-outs! It might not have as much functionality as a pure android unit but has everything I need, phone, nav capability and hopefully decent sound quality.

I'll further update as and when it arrives and I've fitted it.
