Echo on Android head units
Discussion
A little while ago I bought an Android 8.1 head unit for a Golf. The unit came with a built in microphone and also a port for a stand alone microphone. I bought a directional microphone to improve calls (inbuilt mic was not very good) but ended up with quite a lot of echo. Talking to tech support from Xtrons, they said to me that the onboard mic can not be disabled and said that the only way to do that would be to dismantle the unit and physically cut the wiring to the mic.
I thought this completely ridiculous but left it.
More recently, I bought an Android 9 unit for a Mercedes and went through exactly the same thing. This one came with a mic in the box but still echoes.
Are they all really that badly designed?!
Are they all like that?

Firstly xtrons is proper bottom of the barrel. Seconds it's all about the quality of the unit.
I had an xtrons and it was unusable with the internal mic.
I have a pioneer single din in the TVR with an external mic and it is brilliant, even with the roof down.
I have a cheap pioneer double din touch screen in the van with external mic and it is medium to crap.
None of them are android so I guess it's simply down to quality of the unit and mic.
