Harness adapter advice
Discussion
Afternoon all
Over in the Reader's Cars section I'm documenting a Corrado refurb which is proceeding very nicely.
the Corrado came fitted with a modern Sony head unit. The original VW ISO loom had been cut and direct wired was 16 pin connector replaced the original ISO blocks. I want to reinstall something more period and picked up a cheap JVC unit, which is plug and play as it shares the Sony 16 pin affair, and a not so cheap Clarion, which needs the as original ISO double plug interface.
I'm leaning towards the Clarion, not least because the JVC unit gets very hot and is concerning me a little. So my question is: Is there a harness that will have a connector to accept the 16 pin Sony plug and double ISO plugs to connect to the Clarion unit? Or do I need to remove the Sony harness and re install the VW (ISO) one?

Aye, my first port of call. What I need isn't available. As suggested above, simplest solution is to solder in the original ISO blocks.
Thanks both. Another job added to my to do list ..... I love it really!
So yesterday I decided to marry the original connectors to the original loom so that I can fit a period CD player. I was methodical and triple checked wiring connections. The job went more smoothly than I anticipated. But i dont have sound from the rear speakers. I'm none too clever with probable cause. The rears certainly worked with the former ICE. The connections I've checked and re-checked so I'm confident my skills (haha) are not under scrutiny. Could it be the Clarion unit itself therefore? Thanks in advance.....
Two tests:
1. Connect a 9v battery across the leads for the two rear speakers in turn. If they crackle then they are working.
2. Try connecting the rear output from the head unit to the front speakers. See if they produce noise. If they do then you know there is an output from the rear speaker connections on the head unit.
Have you checked the front:rear fader setting on the head unit? That's the obvious place to start ....

Thank you for this, I'll give this a go. I immediately checked the fader thinking it was an easy solution...no coconut. 1. Connect a 9v battery across the leads for the two rear speakers in turn. If they crackle then they are working.
