Can anyone please offer advice regarding the purchase and fitting of this type of device? This is a screen which sits between the dashboard and the windscreen and allows you to see your speed, etc. without taking your eyes off the road.
My son had one as a factory-fitted feature of his Peugeot 3008 which he found very useful, but after the car was stolen, the replacement vehicle did not have this feature.
I'm now considering buying one to have fitted to my Daihatsu Terios. I received an email offering one, but due to thinking it might be a scam, I'm reluctant to follow that up.
Any help would be obliged.

Is the dashboard too hard to read ? Surely this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist ??? You then end up with two dashboards ....

I believe most cars already have a screen of some kind in front of the driver that can fairly accurately display speed.

HUDs have their place. As people get older it takes more time to refocus the eyes as they look between the dashboard and the road, it also takes a finite amount of time for the brain to process a new scene after switching between them. You may think it is instantaneous but have experienced looking at a second hand on a clock and it appears to be stationary for more than a second before moving as expected. This is the brain taking 1/2 second or so analysing the new view.

So, if you can avoid looking away from the road, it all helps.

I got one from eBay or amazon that connected to the odb port

Was really good but occasionally would play up and I found myself getting more and more distracted by it

Eventually it started to make my engine light come on

Of course I could use it to reset and read fault codes but that’s no use if it’s causing the light to come on once a week!
