Hi,

Biker here looking to pick up a car due to change of circumstance. I found one I like the look of;

2015 Ford Fiesta EcoBoost 125ps.
26k miles

I’ve been to see it and it has a few cosmetic issues that I can easily sort out but one thing that’s blowing my mind is a mount behind the rear view mirror. It appears to be hardwired and I’m not sure what it is for...

My first guess was a Dashcam or a digital rear view mirror maybe? But I couldn’t see any sign of electrics being in the back that may have linked to a camera.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

Has it got auto windscreen wipers? If so it will be the sensor.

Yes I think that's it. It should have a plastic cover over it.

Hmm,

I’ll need to ask the seller. It has a small round plastic moulding on the dash just below the screen. I’m assuming these must be related somehow.
Please excuse my ignorance here!

My old MK3 Focus had a similar panel here which was to do with some Ford Assistance GPS device. Could be something similar as looks OEM with the cover missing.

That is the box for Ford SYNC. Connects your phone to the car and can call the emergency services etc after an accident. If it has a rain sensor that will be directly under the rear view mirror and have a cowling that attaches round the mirror to cover it.

I can't remember now but I'm pretty certain the SYNC box should have a cover as well.
