I have a bmw 320d se 2003
I’m haveing trouble with the temperature gauge
Some times it will read normal but other times
The needle will go in to the red and the car will not start anyone any ideas

There is a way to get the dash to display an actual read out, I think you press the trip reset button on the dash 11 times, then it gives you a menu. Find a guide for that and follow it, see what the readings are.

But probably just need to replace the sensor, generally an easy job

This doesn’t happen all the time !!
The original fault was the the glow plugs I change them then it told me the control unit was faulty ,I changed this !! When this happens I can’t get any reading from the ecu

Change the temp sender unit. It's a common failure on Renault Meganes, £20 to replace. Probably the false reading it is giving is tripping the ecu with a 'don't start, you'll lunch the engine'
