Tracker - £250 for an inspection of the tracker

I don't have any knowledge on trackers but I do know not to rely on the Mercedes app to do the tracking for you, it can be disabled by thieves within minutes.

Can you not get insurance at all without the tracker? When I got my Boxster, it had a Tracker installed from new. They must have changed their policy since then because I got it changed to my name without any inspection and a lifetime subscription for about £100.


It wasn't really worth paying even that small amount in my case because no insurance company has ever asked if I have one fitted or offered a discount when I told them about it. Mind you, the car was already five years old when I got it.

doesn't the meredes app just show you were you parked it, based on the most recent bluetooth connection to your phone? not a 'tracker' per se

What are your insurance quotes like with and without a tracker?

I looked at getting one fitted and found that the premiums where higher with than without

I paid £500 to have a tracker fitted (incl subs) which failed after about 18 months and they replaced it charging me £350 without getting pre-authorisation from me.

The tracker was "hidden" in the most obvious place for my model and could be disabled in seconds.

Utter rip off and waste of money IMO
