I will shortly have a 12v socket installed in the rear of my van using the factory wiring. I occasionally have a flashy light plugged in and would like to use this rear socket, but need some way to turn it on/off when it's plugged in.

I'm hoping to find a 12v adaptor that sits in between with a remote, but no success. Any ideas?

I used to have a 12v relay that worked off a remote.

Something like this

Sure you could knock something up using it.

I used this for the same reason as the OP wants, broke into the 12v power with this and hid it behind the trim. Also wired in a tell tail LED bulb that I could see from the rear view mirror so could ensure that it had activated.

Been thinking about this. I'm going to get a cheap extension and then add the remote switch to that so that I don't have to mess with the factory wiring..
