I have owned this car about 2 months. First issue, joined the motorway and all the electrics dropped out and engine cut out. Went to dealer on a truck, they identified a poor earth connection & thought they had resolved the problem. However after a week or so of testing it happened again, this time they could not identify the issue.

They kept on test for a further 8/9 days but it did not re-occur, the advice was to take it back & hope that it was a one-off.

Since that time the car has had NO ignition lights or power when trying to use it on about 5 occasions and now is sat on the road and refusing to un-lock at all.

Help please.... anyone else had similar problems (& solutions)

First port of call the battery my 2006 vantage was in regular use one morning wouldn't start loads of warning lights remote not unlocking doors put a new battery on had no problems since also I believe the tracking system causes a drain on the battery so if the battery is not in top form you get all kinds of gremlins Bill.

Sounds like your alternator wasn't charging (earth disconnected) and so you'll have drained your battery very low and sounds like you killed it.

Sometimes batteries just don't recover from Depp discharge, the plates in the batteries get gummed up and so they can't hold charge properly. if the garage confirm that the alternator is charging the car properly now (if you jump-start you can check with a multimeter) if you fit a new battery, you'll probably be OK.

FWIW the aston batter is about £300+fitting. I bought a cheap Lion one from eurocarparts and fitted myself for £130. It starts on the button.

Good luck!

(incidentally my old battery got mashed by the tracker issue described above, since getting a new tracker it's a very happy car)
