Hi All

My wife and I have a Golf R and an Audi B7 RS4. We had an attempted break in at home this week and I’m pretty convinced they were going for the cars based on what else has happened locally. Both cars always have Diskloks.

I’m considering a Ghost immobiliser for the Golf.

The RS4 is too old for a Ghost so I am looking at a Clifford Connect 5. I appreciate the Connect 5 is first and foremost a tracker whilst the Ghost is not instead being solely an immobilisation device.

However, I’ve been told the Connect 5 allows me to only start the car if I input a pin onto a phone app, ie it has an immobilisation function as well which is most important to me.

However, when I look at Clifford’s website it suggests immobilisation is only at police request only and doesn’t mention phone app.

Does anyone have a Clifford Connect 5 and can explain whether I can control the immobilisation of it via a phone app or a different way or whether it is by the police only?

Cheers

MDMA .

Would the Blackjax not be the better system?

I don’t think app based car alarms are particularly safe

I have installed loads of Ghosts and they’re great but when I get an older car, for example a B7 RS4, I would use a transponder immobiliser. The receiver for the fob can be hidden in a location not normally used I.e. not near the ignition barrel.

Helpful everyone, cheers.

What transponder immobiliser would you suggest for the B7 RS4?

Any branded item will do, they are just a relay that switches some points used to immobilise a starter or fuel pump point. I’ve used sterling excel for (literally) 100’s of installs to great effect.
