Apologies as I appreciate this topic has been covered before but I'm at a loss as to where to go next.

I have an old car with a Continental radio with DAB I installed. The radio works superbly and not only can I now get DAB, but having an old style FM aerial in the windscreen means I can now get those stations too - the old aerial in the windscreen meant you got almost no stations at all.

Based on Techmoans review I've installed an Aukey DR02 front and rear camera, works superbly with clear recordings. With the thick cable to the rear camera it wasn't the easiest install etc.

Problem is it kills all DAB. The front camera is fed round the left top of the screen, the rear round the right and along the door sill etc.

Along the left handside of the screen is where I installed the DAB aerial. I assumed the closeness of the front camera cable and aerial was the issue, I've used an external battery to power the camera and as soon as you turn it on it still destroys all DAB.

I've used ferrites too at either end of the cable and no joy.

Any final suggestions before I have to replace it?

Cheers

Hi,
I'll be watching this too, as I have just had exactly the same problem with exactly the same camera set-up. I have hardwired the camera in however, but otherwise, the same result.

Is the radio impacted an OE fit or a new one?

A new one, with DAB radio as an extra. Not possible to fit the OEM one back, as no longer around, which is annoying

I suspect that answers the question. I took just the front camera out yesterday and hooked it up to an external battery yesterday and tried it in my new daily with an OE built in DAB and it didn't affect it.

I should add I've used a dashcam app on the phone too and as soon as you plug it into the cigarette lighter it kills DAB too.

Ah, sorry, not like the Sure one, as additional. Poorly written by myself. I meant the DAB is built into the new radio compared to the OEM one. I wasn't sure if it would effect the radio with non DAB, whether it is OEM or not, if you see what I mean?

Not sure I get that? The original radio didn't have DAB, whereas the new one does but is built in?

Given you have the same issue it does make me wonder if it's the Aukey at fault. If you watch techmoan's video he had a bit of an issue, but did note his DAB aerial was in the rear screen, where he obviously installed the rear facing camera too.

Yes, the new one has DAB inbuilt. It is installed in a Land Rover 110,with the ariel in on of the alpine windows, and worked brilliantly. Once the camera was installed, that is when the problem started. As you did, I tried magnet ferrules, but am coming to the same conclusion, maybe there is a problem with the camera itself. The wiring from the rear camera is on the opposing side to the DAB ariel

Sounds like your set up is the same as mine, except my DAB aerial is on the left where the front camera power is.

However, all is not lost!

I took the camera off the windscreen and hooked it up to an external battery so it was at least 2 foot from the aerial with the same effect, immediately I turn it on off the DAB signal is lost/returns.

I then hooked it up to the lead from a motormonkey USB car charger which has lots of different adapters for differing devices, plugged it into the cigarette lighter and no impact at all.

I then used another dashcam a Mini 0805 from my other car that I was thinking of putting in this one. Hooked it up to the battery and DAB is killed. Then I hooked it up to the motormonkey and then it's lead which whilst it plugs into the cigarette lighter it's a pre wired type with built in ferrite and no effect.

Conclusion; it is possible to not kill the DAB, and it's not just the Aukey that has the issue.

Some progress!

this is the one in the set i have. Now obviously you can't use this, i doubt it's long enough, but it shows it can work, as does the OE lead on the Mini 0805, which when powered via a cigarette USB lead/charger also kills all DAB.

Just got to get a proper lead which works too!

Good work there, I've been trying different leads, with additional ferrules etc. I'll have to try the linked one and see what happens.

Interesting that it happened to another camera too.

I suspect the issue is the external DAB aerial and that it's not shielded in the way it is if it's OE in a car. Both the Aukey and the Mini 0805 work perfectly in my daily driver, where the DAB's built in.
