2006 focus 6000cd head unit

Hi. Got a 6000cd head unit with the aux button on left and volume control in centre. Been looking to utilise aux function. Got cable that apparantly plugs in back of head unit with 12 pin plug and has 3.5mm aux plug that you run to suitable place, job done.
Problem is the 12 pin socket that accepts plug is located in a recess behind the the main connector block so if you remove main block from head unit to plug it in there you can't then put the main block back in !!
I've found a free red 6 pin connector in glove compartment but that seems to have something to do with the air bag.
Am I missing something ?

Yes, I've just gone through the same pain. If you buy the adapter in the link below and connect it to the red connection you found in the glove box you'll be sorted.

Cheers. Managed to find connector that fits directly in back of head unit.
Pic attached of connector it plugs straight in to. I got a bit nervous about the connector in the glove compartment and the air bag issue !!
