VW Golf MK5 GTI - Unknown Electronics

Hi all O have recently bought an mk5 gti. I thought this was a Bluetooth connector for the radio. Upon taking off the dash board I have found that it trails back to the glove box. Before I take my care apart completely, I was wondering if someone could give me some guidance as to what it is.

Looks like an IR receiver for a remote control to me? Maybe TV Tuner or DVD player?
