I want to test if the boot light wire has a break (as the light does not work). Is there any easy way to remove the cable from the OEM connector -check that it's fine - and then insert back into the connector. I mean that i want to remove it from the wiring loom plastic terminal?

Do you need to remove it? I usually poke a paperclip or pin into the connector and measure to that

I think it may be corroded inside the adaptor. Ideal would be remove wire, clean, then reinsert but I can't work out how to remove the wire

It will have a 'barb' on it that will need to be pushed back to extract the pin - search pin extractor on e-bay or use a jewellers screwdriver or similar
