Hi, I've got a 997 gen 1 built in 2005 fitted with bog standard (non Bose) stereo. Looking to upgrade with quality sound system.
Anyone give me some pointers please?
Based in Northamptonshire.

I’m currently considering one of these:

Can you buy one and let me know how it is? wink

Are you going to do it yourself?
I did so and wrote a detailed guide on here somewhere
It was honestly a very easy job that took about 30 hours and the functionality and sound quality are now outstanding

Did you retain your original speakers?
I've not got Bose fitted so wondered whether I need a speaker & amp upgrade to go with your recommendation?

I kept the bose subs in the doors, do you have sound package plus, I believe that has subs in the doors. They are good but need amplification

The door mid range speakers and dash tweeters need to be replaced with decent 4” components I bought really good ones for £250 but rainbow do a set for £150 that looks good

Best amp is the focal 4.350 for about £220 it’s tiny, can run off the existing power and ground cable for the factory amp so saves a wiring job, and more than powerful enough. Then you just need a decent CarPlay head unit like the Pioneer sph120 for £300 and you’re away! Plus some sound deadening for the doors

Where is the guide? I had a quick look through threads that you'd started, but couldn't find anything.

My Dad is looking at replacing the headunit in the 987 with Bose.

Here you go

If you have any questions feel free to ask

I would honestly recomend replacing the whole thing, every aspect of the 987/997 system is pretty poor

If you can do the work yourself you can put something in for under £1k that will blow PCM and Bose away
