Reasonable costs for a sub and amp - expensive quotes!
Discussion
Just need a perkier sub than the OE Bose plastic box sub in my car. Was looking at something like this https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-... and so had a £300 to £350 budget in mind -fitted. Just popped over to a local guys' and got quoted £700 for much the same but with a brand that I have never heard of - this level of cost kills it...
This Alpine amp is a class D 250W RMS x 1 (2?, 14.4V, ?1% THD+N) so good enough and on a 12" sub going to be far better than OE without having to put the kids on bread and water! Has Remote Sensing Function for Speaker Level Input - so no need for finding a switched +ve (that may upset the car)?
Any thoughts/advice welcome as looks like a DIY budget, tap a speaker wire for a feed and power directly from the (nearby) battery - car won't throw errors? Taking me back to my yoof but with added Canbus fun!
