I've got a 2008 Subaru Sti which is totally original including a double din factory audio/nav/info system which is frankly rubbish. The problem is, I'm trying to keep the car as OE as possible so don't want to change the unit.

So surfing around, I've come across the Pure unit in various forms which it seems I can piggyback onto the existing set. DAB signal around here is excellent, I've got it in two other cars. The Pure also seems to provide an option for playing an iPod which appeals.

I don't need Bluetooth calling as I've got that already so an older version like the 300 looks like an inexpensive option.

Anyone ever used one and anything I should know?

Thanks in advance.

I've fitted a few Alpine Ezi-DABs (rebadged Pure Highway (and think they are great).

Had one on my 9-3, worked very well. I assume the Subaru has an AUX input?

Thanks all, will give it a go. Strange that the Pure badged one is available off the 'bay for £60ish new with an aerial, the Alpine sellers are asking £150ish for what appears to be the same thing.

I have an Aux in option to use, three RCA plugs in fact. I currently use a twin RCA adapter to female 3.5mm as a fairly feeble iPod feed, its inconveniently tucked away in a cubby next to my elbow but sure a bit of discreet cable hiding can sort that.

Ok, got one new with a genuine screen aerial in original box for £50, it was just missing the power lead. Organised one of those and a Brodit mount so with luck should be good to go shortly. Pity Subaru don't use standard ISO connectors as it really would be plug and play by the look of it.

Well as suspected an easy enough fit. The box of tricks seats neatly behind the glovebox out of sight, I only need the power cables and a decent earth so no need to break into the existing audio wiring, fed through the aux input in the centre cubby quite neatly and iPod now resident in the glovebox.

Not 100% sure about the mount but it's totally non-damaging and in a good spot where it doesn't get in the way so I'll see how I get on. Controls are proper easy to work out.

Used the window aerial that came with the kit which is nice and discreet and seems to work. (The blue clip is for a Toll Tag, nothing to do with this install!)

Overall seems a good package for the money and does exactly what I wanted. Well worth considering if you're looking to upgrade without serious car surgery.

The mount looks crap, but ours is still going strong 5 years later.
