The settings and use of this is mostly redundant in the UK.
Hand-held radar use by the police is almost zero and fixed radar is rear-facing. Either you will be spotted by a police officer using a laser or other speedmeter or you will have passed the fixed radar before the unit alarms.
It's configuration should be simply "trash-it".

Many Thanks to all the feed back from all the members of this group . Should I find the information I am looking for I will let you all know as its not the first time that this question has been ask before .
Cheers
You've missed the point. Your radar detector detects radar, which isn't used in the UK, so it matters not how you set it.Cheers

Thanks bad company and I fully understand regarding the Valentine One if you just plug the unit in without setting it up you will get many false alarms this is because you need to turn some bands off and switch filters on . But program the unit with what your requirements are and the V1 works very well .
This is the third V1 I have had used over about 14 years and it works well the only problem I have had is its not waterproof for use on a motor bike .

Yes your 100% right however it wont get a lock on the bike due to a transponder fitted to the front and rear of the bike preventing any incoming any laser from getting a lock .
In the UK the only problem we have is Average Speed Cameras and Truvelo cameras. Average Speed Cameras use IR photography and road distance to calculate your speed, and Truvelo cameras use sensors in the road to measure your speed most are set up for front pictures and motor bikes dont have a front number plate .
As for the V1 settings in the UK as far as I know Ka , Ku is used a little and X band are not used in the UK and Gatsos fixed road side cameras use K band . This is why you need to go into the main menu and turn many of the modes off other wise yes you will get false alarms, from devices such as traffic lights supermarket doors, mobile phones and transmitters often operate on the X band.
This is why I did hope someone could give me the settings and save me all the fun and games searching for the right settings .

I only use mine in the UK to check what speed cameras on the motorway are active every once in a while, otherwise it only gets used when I am in the USA. I program mine through my phone using V1connection, so I can't tell you the button settings, but it is K band on, in Euro mode to extend K band, and the other bands turned off. Although mostly my V1 is left on my default US settings, which is K + Ka segmented with 3 frequency ranges (which covers most of the states I visit, manually muting K band if I'm passing through an area it isn't used) Too many cars set off laser these days with Led headlights that I turned it off, and I can count the amount of times I have run into a speed camera van or a traffic cop with a laser gun in the last 5 years on one hand, but I dare say that is due to where I mostly drive (USA I keep it on).
I had one for a while several years ago. They are not useless at all and are good at detecting Gatsos and motorway gantry cameras. The laser detector is also effective at detecting scatter from camera vans / police lasers, although that of course relies on them trying to lock onto the cars in front of you. If you're the only one on the road and come across a camera van, by the time it's warned you, it's probably too late.
Mine was set up by the previous owner so I can't help you too much there. With regards to false positives, occasionally certain cars would set it off (I presume due to their active cruise control) but in general there weren't too many issues.

I’ll just leave this here....https://northyorkshire.police.uk/news/laser-jammer...
And no, I’m not some sanctimonious bd who never speeds. I use Speed Camera apps for awareness but jammers are a whole different league in the eyes of the law.
Thanks thanks Smack + Geekman , Yes I thought there were other users out there in the uk well this is my third unit all the others I bought from the UK this one I did a upgrade while I was in the states on holiday .Yes from speaking to many people regarding programming they all said best to get the WiFi box if I had known I would have bought one in the states I have seen them for sale over in Germany for about £50 I would buy straight from Valentine but the customs duty on all good from the states is about 25% but I will keep checking Ebay as might get lucky , From what I can see K band is the only active band you need turn on .Yes if you get gunned with a Laser you have very little time except if you have a laser jammer fitted which will stop the gun from getting a lock on you however if they are unable to get a lock your reg number does go onto a data base and this happens more than 3 times your get a visit to your home where your vehicle will be checked and if they find a jammer fitted your end of in court .Yes I have found many cars set off the V1 but they have fitted better filters on the new upgrade to stop this from happening it would seem to be from Audi from what I can see .
Thanks again for the info the only problem I have with the V1 is its not waterproof and your a bit limited to were you can fit it on the bike .

Good to see fellow UK V1 users. Most of the other posters who dissed it don't know about its actual potential. I think the best setting is to use it in laser mode only. This would work well on roads where the "safety" camera vans are aiming at several cars ahead of you and you can catch the scatter.
Essentially, I see it as a "laser detector" (and the best around) as opposed to a "radar detector". I'm really tempted by a jammer but I've heard they come hard on you on the very first time (unlike one of the prev posters who mentioed 3rd time,, but I could be wrong).
I'm still trying to figure out how to set it in laser-only mode though. Can anyone walk me through it (quick youtube search didn't show any good guides)?
