MOBILE speed camera detector

Hi, while I realise there are many speed detectors free/paid for. . . my question is there one/or more models that alerts you when approaching a mobile unit/hand held trap? Cheers
Not really. From my understanding the days of this have long gone. The mobile units use a pretty modern laser that locks on and records your speed quicker than you can react, the detectors are also only able to pick these signals up when you're really close anyway. There are other options (laser jamming system) but you'll be in trouble when they pull you over. There's also something called a Target Blue Eye which detects the radio signal used by mobile police units (and other emergency services) which is very effective and very expensive, but no good for fixed cameras.
Personally, I'd just use Waze.

I think the same as you ( RowntreesCabana ) the jammers are 100% but give the reading back to the man in the van of 'zero' thus they know immediately you got device onboard. Didn't now your others comments though, which is nice to learn something everyday
Be aware that the other option is based on detecting the Tetra radio system used by the Police, which will be obsolete within 2 years. I did find another similar system (Python) when looking, and that can be had for £300ish. Still a lot to fork out when it could well be useless within the next 15 months. I don't have much to add to a device that identifies where mobile speed cameras are, but every police force in the UK publish their mobile speed camera locations therefore negating the need for a detector.
The only negative I can think of is that you're not familiar with the area, you'll not be aware but some homework before you go will be some use.

Each week my local paper publishes the locations where mobile cameras will be operating, yours may do the same.RowntreesCabana said:
Yes, it's a 4G based system.
For what it's worth, I'd just go Waze and maybe get a standalone GPS based dash device from a reputable company.
There is a lot more to this than it just changing to 4G. I would be extremely surprised if we don’t get another 10 years of Tetra. 4G isn’t up to the job for Police communication devices yet. Think about 4G signal on the underground, or at a busy event, like the Football or Goodwood FOS. The last think the Emergency Services need is to lose signal! For what it's worth, I'd just go Waze and maybe get a standalone GPS based dash device from a reputable company.
Tetra is based on a low frequency that can pass through buildings and crowds, so has maximum coverage.
I would imagine that the EMS will continue to use Tetra based radio communications with the 4G network used for live streaming of body cameras in the future.
There are also the cost implications. The Tetra system has no doubt cost billions to develop, so I doubt it will just disappear in 2 years!
I think that Taget Blu Eye will be usable for years and years to come.
