Hi, I have Renault Scenic 2008 1.6 Petrol and yesterday the electronic key was working fine and locked the car last night. . . this morning nothing. I opened it to reveal a battery and metal key that fits a lock ( can't find a lock for it though ) I checked the battery and shows 2.9v and the coin battery is a 3v. I replaced the battery and it now works, so my questions are:

1. Why do I have a metal key with no lock?
2. I don't have a spare electronic key, so where do I purchase another at the right price as imagine Renault will be through the roof?
3. Do I need a new battery at 2.9v or was this mornings problem just a loose connection?

Thanks

Not sure on point 2 and 3. But regarding point 1, there's usually a key hole behind a blanking plate. Check the driver side or even passenger side door, there should be a removable piece of plastic that will reveal a key hole for the physical key to go into.

Quick google search shows the blanking plate is lifted from underneath and reveals a conventional key hole.

Common issue, caused by dry solder joints or micro cracks in the board due to flexing the key.
Just do an ebay search for a programmed key, there are people that have links to nationwide locksmiths who will code it or you may find one close to you....all way cheaper than a main dealer.
