I'm thinking if I install both the Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser security system AND a gps tracker, then I don't want to waste additional money every year for a car theft insurance (400 eur/year in my country).

And vice versa - if I pay the full insurance against a car theft, then why would I spend additional money on car security devices like Ghost and a GPS tracker if I'm getting a new car anyway in case it's stolen?

What's your opinion? Would you pay 400 eur/year for insurance if you had Ghost and GPS tracker installed any why?

My situation: I just bought a new Lexus SUV with my own money (no lease/loan) with a factory alarm fitted and deciding which route to go.

Every tracker I have had experience of has always caused issues (factory fitted or aftermarket). I have therefore had all removed/disabled.

I have no first hand experience of Ghost.

I would go for full insurance, no battery drain.

If you elect to go the other route, I suspect if someone attempts to steal the car but can’t due to Ghost/it’s recovered due to tracker then the damage they cause will not be covered.

You must be really unlucky, had trackers fitted to loads of vehicles, never had an issue.
