Mirror dash cam
Discussion
I just learned that these were a thing and they look awesome.
This one looks good and well priced, anyone got any other recommendations?

I don't think that would come into play, there are only straps over the rear mounting it to your existing mirror. Sensors etc on the existing mount shouldn't be affected.
Both mine (VW & Merc) have auto-dimming sensor in the mirror.Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't most modern car mirrors be too wide for this to fit over - for the camera to work, the unit surely needs to be a good couple of inches wider? I remember my dad having a clip over mirror on his mk2 Cortina.
I have used several dashcams in different cars and currently use a mirror one in the family car. The mirror cam is wider than a standard mirror, sufficient that it is outside the blacked out portion of windscreen behind the mirror and usefully just inside the top of wiper arc. It is not so wide that it interferes with the sun visors and is very discrete. Power supply is permanently wired (on with ignition) and the cable is run up easily behind the edge of the roof lining.
On this particular car it is very difficult to use a conventional dashcam as the mirror, the blacked out area behind it and the sun visors use up all the space except for a narrow band each side of the mirror.
The main drag is that all mirror cams with embedded cameras (as opposed to ones hung below the mirror) have the lens to the left which usually makes the field of view slightly harder to set up than if it was the right side for RHD cars.
