Installing an Apple Carplay unit into 2013 MK3 Focus
Discussion
Hey Folks, sorry for my ignorance here, I've never made any changes like that to a car before. I'm wanting to replace the standard unit for one that supports Apple Car play. I'm aware that I'll need to get a replacement bracket that accepts a double din unit.
Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on compatible units for the car? I'm not wanting to lose functionality of the wee screen at the top of the dash that shows info such as parking sensors / parallel park assist etc.
Also one other question. Changing out the radio to a 3rd party unit like this. Is it a modification that would require my insurance to be informed?
Thanks

You will need something like this http://www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CTK...
Then any double Din unit will fit and it retains the screen and the functions etc.
I’m not sure but it may make the top screen a dumb clock then sensor screen etc shows on double din.

I had spotted that, what concerns me is the top screen stopping working though. I've read mixed reports. It's used for the parking sensors and the parallel park assist, so they're not features I really want to kill if I can help it.Then any double Din unit will fit and it retains the screen and the functions etc.
