Hello and a question
Discussion
First off I'd just like to say hello to you all.
I'm getting a hawk car alarm in the next few days and these a few things I'm hoping someone can help me with.
First off is the remote engine start,
Obviously this is a tricky one as my car (fiat punto 04) has an immobiliser and will only start with the key in the ignition because of the chip in the key. Would anyone know of a work around for this?? Bearing in mind that I only have one key.
So number two is the system is able to close the windows automatically when the alarm is actived and open them when deactivate, you can buy a little box that's separate from the alarm package, now im guessing that it's only a relay that will control this feature. Would anyone know how I could DIY this little box.
Well thanks for any help anyone can recommend or offer.
And one again hello all

Hi There!
I used to run a firm that fitted stuff like that. So - first off the normal practise is to strip the key down, remove the transponder chip and glue it next to the receiver.... you then rely on the new immobiliser you’re about to fit. 9/10 times you end up with a less secure car than you started with but you do get remote start.
On the windows - auto close boxes are indeed just relays but they have a lot of wires (since you’re looking for up and down in this case you’ll need a multi channel box) and they’re very cheap anyway. They also have load sensing in them which is useful if someone traps something in the window so I wouldn’t mess about with relays yourself as it will look like a 1920’s signal box gone wrong. Remember you’ll also need timing on the auto open/close so generally that is the job of the window module rather than the alarm unit which normally just has a high or low trigger to say it’s armed or disarmed as a signal to the box. For windows down you would normally use a spare channel.
Unless you’re extremely careful this job will end up like a rats nest of wires. Best advice I can give you is work out all your connection points for everything before you touch anything and then build the loom on the bench, configuring all the locking polarities, window lifts, immobiliser runs etc and looming it all up neatly. Then and only then go anywhere near your car with it.
If there is the slightest hint that you don’t know what you’re doing bail out bail out bail out. I’ve seen lots of ruined cars this way and many by guys who should known better.
Very best of luck, however.

Thanks for the advice and heads up, think I'll go for the box then, I'll strip the chip out of the key then.
I'm hoping that it won't be to bad fitting alarm as I'm a sparks myself and I totally agree with you about making sure that I know all connection before making any changes to the car.
