Hi all

I have a question.

I have a Pioneer F88DAB head unit to install. As well as that, i have 2 new Pioneer reverse cameras as well as a new amplified DAB aerial.

The 2 cameras and the DAB aerial needs 12 Volts, can i have all 3 powered from the 12v output from the head unit?

Thanks
Nick

You first need to check the current consumption of the cameras and aerial, now check the max switched current of the head unit
If you can't find the information or want to play safe and possibly give the head unit a longer life.....fit a relay, use the head unit to switch the relay in at terminal 86 and earth terminal 85 and run a fused supply to the relay input terminal 30, relay output terminal 87 can now supply the cameras, the head unit should be able to power the aerial direct without a problem
You could also power the aerial with the relay and try it....there is a chance that the relay will cause interference but I don't know everything about this possible interference problem

Super thanks for your help.

Not as easy as i thought....

So, i have:
2 Cameras which a spec power supply of: 14.4V DC (10.8 .. 15.1V)
the Aerial says 12v/21,5+3mA

Now, that is all french to me.. i have no idea.

Now looking at the manual to my headunit
https://www.pioneer.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016...

Page 8 says this:
To electric terminal controlled by ignition switch

Page 9 says this:
To Auto-aerial relay control terminal or aerial booster power control terminal 12 vDC

My plan is to now connect both cameras to the terminal mentioned on page 8
and the aerial connected to the terminal on page 9

Does this seem right?

I misunderstood what you wanted, I read it as you wanting the cameras to work when switching the head unit on

I've looked at that PDF and you will be good to go with the aerial but the cameras could possibly overload the ignition switched supply to the radio
You could do with knowing what the current consumption of the cameras are before making a decision about how to wire them
Also bear in mind that the supply to the cameras should have its own seperate fuse

Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it.

The cameras do have individual fuses which I assume it to protect the camera. I will look at finding an ignition power source.

Reversing cameras are normally switched on by tapping into the reversing light wire.

Why do you need 2?
