Help! Am the proud owner of a 2.0 litre mk3 mx5 on a 56 plate purchased just this week - but this morning the odometer is bust. The lcd is illuminated, but it's not displaying total mileage or trips. Mazda want a fair wack to diagnose. Any thoughts before I take it in?

Get it diagnosed first before replacing parts

Basic things really check all fuses everywhere number of times I’ve seen cars with faults that turn out to be a faulty but not blown fuse just use a fuse that you know works or just for testing purposes a larger rating. Could save money in the long run if not then you’ve not lost anything other than a few minutes

Cheers both! It was hit and miss for a few days but is back to normal now. Will inevitably go again at some point so I'll be ready to investigate. Had bigger fish to fry the last week - had a stuck caliper and car became undriveable. Dealer has sorted tho - phew.

Could be the battery on it's way out, you start the car and the voltage drops too much, shutting down the dash and instruments because the ECU can't communicate with them for the few seconds it takes to start the car..
