Rear dash cam recommendations please

Today on the M6 I had a LR then a VW van aggressively tailgate me so close they were almost touching the rear bumper. I was going about 10 mph over the speed limit in the LH lane, in my Euros, with the top down.
I think I might consider investing in a dash cam which does front and rear. There's not a lot of room though. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I’d have got their number plates. Any closer and they’d have gone up onto the boot. The next lane was empty so it was all completely unnecessary.

t in an old A5 with flashing blue lights on the front, using them to push through Birmingham rush hour traffic. It’s a variable speed zone with lots of cameras. The speed limit was dropped from 60 to 50 to 30. It then actually fell to 20 a bit later on. There are two lanes which clearly go to the motorway exit so plenty of room. I had two separate vehicles pull in about 2 foot behind me, whilst I was going 40, try to hustle me to speed up, then aggressively veer round me. I am not exaggerating on the closeness.
I have been driving for 30 years, including tractors, tanks, vans. I used to drive 50k miles per year and have had a few close calls in my time. Today was uncomfortable and not something I have ever had driving my usual shed selection on the same stretch of motorway.
If nothing else, a dash cam would help me work out wtf was going on.

There are quite a few front & rear dashcams listed on Amazon, I purchased the Apeman which is a triangle shaped camera for the front and a smaller more compact camera for the rear screen. I never actually got around to fitting it but have to say the reviews are pretty good and it's quite discreet.

Ought to mention I also fitted a MyWitness front & rear dashcam in one of my other cars, the quality wasn't great and the rear camera was pretty grainy, but it was good enough to read number-plates rather than high definition and would have worked a treat to catch the morons on camera tailgating you.
I don't know why folks are being so stroppy over the fitting of a dashcam, it works in the background, and like an airbag or ABS, you're damn well pleased if something kicks off.

Thought I'd try and balance up the replies as the first few haven't been very helpful. There's plenty of valid reasons to have a dash cam, I have one with the hope I'll never need it.
As an example my mum's partner bought a Subaru Legacy a few months ago and fitted a dash cam immediately as he had a spare. We then had the bout of snow and he was involved in an accident. Essentially an oncoming car (uber of course) fish tailed and hit the front of the Subaru with its driver side rear door. Without a dash cam there is absolutely no way you could convince anyone that someone hit the front of your car with the side of theirs.
I have a professionally fitted Blackvue which is decent. Probably a bit expensive compared to others out there now but I am happy with it. I had front and rear which worked seamlessly with GPS etc however the rear camera threw up interference on my radio as my antenna is built into the rear screen so I disconnected the rear in the end. Front is perfect and the app has been updated and improved a few times over the last few years as well.

Nextbase cameras are good and mostly approved by the insurance industry. I have them installed in my vehicles and they have been nothing but perfect. The Apeman is triangle shaped or 'wedge' may be a better description, it sticks directly to the windscreen for the front camera, the rear camera bracket is on the top of the camera so a little bit of tinkering may be required to fit it.Birmingham is the UK capital for deliberate slam on accidents and dash cam footage is fantastic for proving this if you ever get stung by the way
I seem to recollect a front/rear dashcam advertised a few years ago that had front and rear view cameras fitted into a rear view mirror which might be of use to you, sorry but I can't remember the name as I type this out. If you are based in Nottinghamshire I can recommend a very good mobile installer based near Redhill roundabound on the A60 into Nottingham, he installs loads of coaches and buses with cameras so is well versed with fitting them.
As you quite rightly say, deliberate heavy braking for shunt accidents is on the increase, and without dash cam footage recording beyond reasonable doubt who did what, the insurance companies will go 50/50, which is OK if you don't mind having a needless accident recorded on your record, and a subsequent hike in your premium.
For what dashcams cost I think they are well worth the money.

That's true, well always assuming the SD card was fitted at the time of the alleged offence, in the meantime, should some cash for crash incident occur, it's your word against theirs. You only have to look at the number of videos posted on YouTube of crap driving to realise that you really do need some video evidence to 100% back up your version of events, otherwise the kind caring insurance company will go 50/50, screw your no-claims bonus and ramp up your premium. Is your choice...

only if it has the capacity to measure speed (via GPS) or indeed if it has it & it is switched on (mine is off

I have had dashcams in my cars for the past 3 or 4 years and it's come in handy a couple of times (once when I was rear ended, and twice when I witnessed accidents). I have never once copied off footage and uploaded it to youtube, it's not obligatory
It can come in very handy in proving you're not at fault in an accident. I accept there is a risk if the police demand footage and you have been overenthusiastic, but it's a risk worth taking I think.

Only if you know the length of the particular lines (& they vary so would need individual measurement). Personally, I reckon the risk of having someone else bump my car or likelihood of catching video that may prove useful etc. to be far, far higher than the chance of anybody ever requiring to go out & measure white lines to prove my speed.
