Friend had a small black electrical 'unit' come loose from where it was stuck with double sided sticky pad in the nearside of boot interior of his 2013 Golf.
Anyone know what it is?

Complete guess, but could it be the buzzer/beeper for after-market parking sensors? It looks like there’s a switch labelled ‘H’ and ‘L’. “High” or “Low” for the beep perhaps?

Looks like a GPS tracker - if you undo the screws on the belly, there will be a SIM in there if it is.

Just a wild guess - looks awful like one.
