Dash Cam and Telematics - Large fleet (500 vehicles)
Discussion
My company is wishing to install a dash cam solution with front and driver facing cameras.
We're looking at non SD Card camera solution so more than likely it will need to be a DVR installed within the car somewhere.
They would also like Telematics - to be aware if anyone is speeding (not necessary above the road limit which changes, more of a notification if anyone went over 80mph) plus the normal tracking. We'd also like to see the data the telematics produces so we run reports.
Our fleet is large - 500 vehicles.
Does anyone have any experience installing something similar? Any recommendations? Google just brings back quite a large number of suppliers and its hard to tell who's better than the next.

Smartwitness would be where my search would begin. We have experience with them, and are signed up to sell & install their equipment.
Some of their features are as below:
- Remote Live Viewing
- Live Alerts & Logs of overspeed (speeding in any zone greater than 10% of the speed limit)
- 2 way audio communication with the driver
- Full suite of reports to extract for driver improvement sessions/programs
- Can be connected to DVR's (500Gb +) instead of SD cards
- Can add more cameras (such as side cameras) in order to be FORS compliant
- One portal for all vehicles - no limit. Allowing you to have a hub as such, maybe 6-8 screens connected together in the fleet managers office or control room, allowing compete oversight of all the fleet, at any given time
- Cameras inform you when a vehicle is travelling, idling, or stopped
- Geofencing - create a polygon or circle around your depot(s), meaning when a driver enters within the boundary created, you get an alert, allowing you to get the loading bay ready for example
- Google Traffic integrated with their telematics - allows fleet managers to redirect fleet away from any accidents/road closures before the driver gets to them
Thanks, Jay
