I'm looking for the world's easiest dashcam.

Ideally something tiny, wireless, simple and reliable - I don't want to faff / fit wires / have to download or do techy things. I just want something that sits on the dashboard / screen and records (just visual is fine) and if I capture footage I want something that is easy to retrieve...

What's the closest thing out there?

None are "wireless". They all need power.

I was hoping for a "charge up overnight" type thing.

'Go Pro' style action camera and a suction mount?

I don't think there is a portable dashcam on the market. The problem is battery power as most have tiny rechargeable batteries that on a good day may last 15 minutes, but are really designed to save the files and power down when the ignition is turned off.

The nearest alternative, apart from an Action Camera, would be the DDPai which has a magnetic mount and then buy a magnetic mini/micro usb cable.

I'd go for something like a Go Pro with a mount in this particular case then. It seems like it would suit the requirements you have more than any dashcam I can find.

... or you can use any old smartphone with a dashcam app, a sucker mount, and a charge lead.

Google 'android/iphone dashcam'

Wiring dashcams is pretty easy, it's a question of stuffing the flexible to the power (cigar lighter) socket behind trim panels and the headliner with a plastic tyre lever or similar. They tend to run on 5 volts DC, so don't chop off the power plug and wire them directly.

Halfords will fit one for you while you wait.
