Got a 6006e in the car, had a 6000 in for a few weeks while I waited for it, the 6000 played burnt discs no problem, the 6006e however does not. Anyone got any clue how I could possibly play burned discs in it, if possible?

I don't think it does play them I'm afraid. Could be wrong as I'm really having to cast my mind back, but I'm sure I remember that being the case (assuming we're talking about the early models as fitted to pre-2004 Focus, MK5 Fiesta, and Mondeo MK2/Pre-facelift MK3...

Yeah it's this, fitted to the Ghia, ST170 and RS Focus. If it doesn't then I guess I can use my FM Transmitter to listen to Radio 90's and Apple Music.

I'll be honest, unless you do listen to a lot of proper CDs and need a 6 disc changer, you'd be better off swapping it back out for a 6000 and then connecting your aux cable to the changer slot on the back using an adaptor box (you can still use the single slot CD player, it just thinks it has a CD changer as well which is actually now an aux...)

They were finnicky but if you have an analogue scope and a test disk you can adjust the laser power pot and focus pot to get a clean signal out the test point. I had a quick look but it seems I no longer have the schematic for that model, taht was a few computers and a couple of house moves ago, but i did download it so it should hopefully be still available somewhere.
They were ste though, do you not fancy going 21st century?

Keeping the car original, I have a real hate for aftermarket units in the MK1 Focus, never seen one that remotely suits it

You don't need an aftermarket unit, you just use the original 6000CD unit with an adaptor that sits behind it inside the dashboard and gives you an aux wire anywhere you like, I ran mine down to the centre console, but you could have it in the glovebox or whatever.

It's totally invisible and the car looks 100% OEM.

Even still, don't really like the look of the 6000, that's why I swapped it. If discs are a no go then I'll just play music from my USB through my FM Transmitter

Like i said with a bit of calibration it will play burnt media.
Do you have an old school tv/hifi repair guy locally or maybe a rig doctor?

Well if you really want to persevere with old ste you need someone who specialises in old ste.
Or you could add a parrot 9200

I like being able to use the radio controls behind the steering wheel, that's the issue with playing music through an FM Transmitter. I'll have a look at getting it re calibrated.

Parrot 9200 and a unika steering wheel controls interface. Keeps the 6006 look but gives bluetooth handsfree, bluetooth music, usb audio, sd card audio.

That looks interesting actually, how do the wheel controls work though? They fit the MK1 Focus wheel?

It uses the ford oe controls. The unika connects to the back of the ford stereo and intercepts the signal from the controls and passes them to the parrot.
