Going MP3 in Merc R230 SL
Discussion
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help or give me some advice / options please
I currently have a COMAND-APS NTG1 system, Sat-Nav, front loading DVD player, TV tuner [obviously can't use anymore] connected to a CD changer in a closed compartment behind the passenger seat and a Bluetooth adaptor under the armrest. Everything is currently working OK and sounds good with the BOSE speaker upgrade
I want to be able to find a way of keeping the existing COMAND head unit and functions but install an input device that can play music through a USB stick or HDD, locked away and utilising the COMAND head unit to operate. I want to be able to remove the storage device so I can add / delete music as and when needed and for it to show up on the COMAND unit
I appreciate that I may not be able to use every function like random playback and other features that are pretty useless, well to me they are. As long as I can see the track listing, operate volume control / mute, change tracks / albums and hopefully automatically mute when using the phone, then I will be happy
I looked into a streaming option but it didn't meet my requirements and was too complicated
Something someone mentioned to me a while back was a Dension device. You disconnect the CD changer and plug in one of these devices utilising the MOST fiber optic system, it apparently mimics the CD changer so it appears on the COMAND unit. I still would like to keep the CD changer in place but I wouldn't need it connected, in case I ever sell the car
Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated as I hate having to burn new CD's and limited to just 6 discs, continually changing them
Cheers,
Tony
