2nd immobiliser - Which one?
Discussion
Following the whole thieves breaking the window and plugging in some device/computer and making themselves new keys, either that or breaking into my house and stealing my keys, I'm looking at getting a 2nd immobiliser fitted.
Has anyone any recommendations? The idea is that i'll carry the immobiliser tag/fob separately so that in case my keys get nicked, they don't take the immobiliser fob with it.
Its a BMW F10 5-series and its still under factory warranty, so preferably something that doesn't interfere with the factory warranty would be great

Heard a few people using the Autowatch Ghost. Don't have one in my car but toying with adding it to the next new car.

The AWG (Autowatch Ghost) doesn't interfere as such with the warranty, as you are not cutting cables to do the install, you are tapping into them. Every manufacture differs, but considering Ghost Installers do a majority of these installs at the dealership before the customer usually takes ownership of their brand new car, most dealers are well aware of this product and won't really divulge into ever using this product to wiggle out of any warranty claims due to the sheer lack of knowledge surrounding this product. Some manufactures won't even know it's there - when it goes in for a service, you stick it in service mode, and providing they don't require to take it on a test drive for greater than 15 minutes or at above 30mph, it won't ever be known to the service technician one is even fitted.
We would always advise you inform them you have one to be safe, as if they do end up stranded on the side of the road in your vehicle, they are likely to immediately think the vehicle has had a serious electronics malfunction, when in fact the Ghost has just kicked in.
It's probably the best thing you could buy to prevent vehicle theft in the current climate.
Thanks, Jay
