Been with them for years and for some reason they have taken 4 payments in the last month, when I rang them about it the phone just goes round and round in a loop forever. I have emailed them and cancelled direct debit but curious if anyone might have heard something about them.

From their Facebook page on 20 Jan: -

Hi Everyone, As I'm sure some of you are aware we are experiencing some issues with our servers. They are currently undergoing maintenance by the technicians at our new address. Our phone lines and website are unfortunately being affected by this - we are aware of the issues and our technical team have been working to try and rectify this. We will keep you updated and let you know of any progress we make. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience.

If I was you I'd be onto my bank about getting a refund for those.

Oh definitely yes, in my mind they have gone bust and taken payments early twice to try and boost bottom line short term, if everyone pays twice for 2 months they are in healthy profit, most people might not notice as its only £3.99 a month but im a pedantic tt so I do.

Totally irrelevant, but quite funny anyway.

Hi all, I have had issues today with regards to my Road Angel, I am being told that whilst the company was bought out by Road Angel Group that they are not updating my Road Angel that has a contract on it till late September 2019. They said they have only bought the name and not the contracts even though they have all my contract data, reported them to Trading Standard and Citizens Advice, they are refusing to let me speak to a manager. I have asked how I can get updates and they are saying I would have to buy the new product for £250 and they will then transfer my credit over to that. I also have a Gem that has a faulty screen and they are saying they may be able to fix but if not I would need to buy the Road Angel Pure for a discounted fee of £199 and they will transfer the balance of that contract Feb 2019. Seems like a scam to me I have had various Road Angel products over the last 20 years.

I cancelled all contracts with them and am now just using it with an old database on it. Better than nothing. Shame they were very good. I have had many over the years. Updated every few years to a new model.

I binned them off a few months ago. A company I’ve used since the early noughties turned in to rob dogs with poor quality (Gem) products & terrible customer service.

They owe me money too.

What did you go for in-place of the Road Angel as I have two of them.

Currently running Cyclops on my phone when on unfamiliar roads but have varified the database locally.

Really happy with it.
