Becker Traffic Pro 7945 won't switch on
Discussion
Hi,
I have a Becker Traffic Pro 7945 head unit, which has stopped working after a trip to a body shop. The unit was working fine and before dropping the vehicle at the garage i manually switched it off. Upon collection, the unit would not switch back on manually but what i did notice is that depressing the on button for a few seconds triggered a red light to come on in the top right of the screen.
I asked the guys in the garage if anything out of the norm had occurred and they said the car, on one occasion was reluctant to start and so they put it on a trickle charge. I can only surmise this is the reason why the unit no longer works.
We checked all the fuses, which were fine so i took the unit to my local ICE dealer who sent it off for repair but unfortunately they returned the unit stating they could not find any service information and therefore could not repair. Having contacted Becker in Germany, they put me in touch with Kempf who want to charge approx 100eurio to check and send/return the unit.
Having already wasted money with one so called repair specialist, i'm reluctant to spend another chunk of money, especially sending abroad, before exploring if anyone on the forum can advise an alternative or knows of an radio electronics specialist.
Thanks in advance,
D
