Clifford alarm problem
Discussion
I hope this is the right place to post this as I couldn't find anything in technical relating to car alarms, otherwise could a mod please move it.
I have a Clifford alarm on my car which was on there when I bought it and it's quite an old model (50x) it would seem after doing a bit of searching on the internet for my problem but with no luck.
I've been out of the country for almost 4 years during which time the battery in the remote has gone flat so after fitting a new one all that happened was that the red LED on the remote flashed on for 1/2 a second then off for 1/2 a second then on then off indefinitely until I pressed one of the buttons then nothing.
Normally when I press the arm / disarm button the red LED lights up and the doors lock or unlock and the alarm gets switched on or off but it seems completely dead. Is there a trick to replacing the battery from completely dead or is the remote borked?

A quick Google suggests that the remote may just need re-syncing with the alarm.
You could try:
Find your valet switch.
Turn the ignition to the on position.
Press and release and then press and hold the valet switch.
The alarm should chirp.
Press the lock button on the remote and the alarm should chirp again.
Turn off ignition
Which should hopefully get them re-sync'd :-)

Hi, I've just bought a Mitsubishi 3000GT with a Clifford fitted. I haven't come across one before and I'm having trouble with the alarm keep going off for no reason. I have no idea where it was fitted or by whom. Also the remote doesn't work and I've ordered a battery for it which hasn't turned up yet.
My questions would be:
I've read here about a valet switch possibly with a code (not sure which model I have) Is this switch easily identifiable if I can find it?
Would any fitter honour the lifetime guarantee I read about on a previous post?
For now is it possible to just disconnect it but keep the car running?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new on here and I'll try to get my profile a bit more complete over the holidays.
