Going to replace the HU in my 350Z, anyone had something like this ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XTRONS-6-95-Digital-Scre...

Is it worth getting over say a basic Pioneer HU for the Sat Nav or more trouble than they are worth ?

When you replace the head unit in the 350z I think you'll also need adapters for the Bose speakers, at least that's the vague recollection of when I had mine done nearly ten years ago!

No idea on the cheap ebay unit, although you probably get what you pay for!

Get a Pioneer AppRadio (2, 3 or 4) head unit, basically duplicates your android / iphone on the screen along with all the functionality. About the same price as the link

I've just put a Pioneer X3600DAB into my Astra (upgraded from an AVH 3200BT as I wanted DAB), and it's excellent - although I paid £240 for it.
I looked at the Xtrons (and the like) a while ago and shy'd away due to the perceived lack of dealer support - and the Eastern persistence of using Times Roman for everything - although that might have changed now. biggrin

I needed a loom adapter to keep the steering wheel remotes (£25), cage and facia trim/fitting kit (£30), aerial adapter (£7), so bear this in mind too.

You paid £240 for that? Does it have its own maps or does it use your phone? I remember paying nearly £2k for a Pioneer Avic X1 in 2004!

Cheers, I am waiting for this that I ordered the other day,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400494113461?_trksid=p20...

and trying to decide what I actually need, there is something cool about having a full computer in the dash but how much of it would I use,

Bluetooth streaming and calling
Cd
Aux In
FM Radio
Ipod connectivity - maybe
Navigation - Have a fairly recent Tom Tom, having it built in is neater.

Realistically, probably wont use,

DVD/Video, hmm maybe if stuck somewhere but the thought of sitting in my car watching films, not sure if that will happen.

Apps, cant see may playing Angry Birds on the car stereo.

Tv, maybe if stuck somewhere but I expect it will be fairly crap

It was from ebay though (6 months old), new there about £310:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avh-x3600d...

No maps though - you need an adapter which is about £260.
But given the position in my Astra (it's quite low down) and that I have a TomTom then there's no need for it.
It has a rear usb which I have an 80gb Ipod plugged into in the glovebox, plays all sorts of avi/divx movies from a USB too, bluetooth (external mic included) and DAB - which is a major plus for me. It also has AppRadio (and MirrorLink) on it, which I think would work better with an iPhone, but I'm on android and it seems to be a bit more convoluted.

Plus no end of audio adjustments and top, top Pioneer quality.
Brilliant unit.

Which one? Is it smooth? How is the screen? Would love to replace my 6yo pioneer, but everything seems so expensive compared to a small tablet.

Nice job - you must be impressed with that.

Do you have steering remotes, and do they still work?

When you do, I'd be happy to hear from you!
The alfa's steering remotes still work with the Pioneer, and I wouldn't want to lose them.

Not too impressed with the 800x480 resolution though :/

Same as my old AVIC-F910BT, and the top end AVIC don't offer anything more suprisingly. You'd think that HD and even full HD displays would be a dime a dozen these days?

Other than that, for smoothness, I was referring to the operation in, for example, maps. It has a rockchip and over 1GB of RAM, but still it seems on the edge of running android 4.x smoothly...
