My son has just bought a 2007 A3 3.2 Quattro which is a Japanese import. The satnav/stereo are all in Japanese and the unit really needs replacing for a UK one. Does anyone know the model number of a suitable alternative? The one in there now is a Clarion model number J8E AE2 A01 which looks like this:

(The image is taken fro a Google search as he has the car with him.)

Behind it is a HDD, CD slot and I think a memory card slot. Any ideas appreciated on how to change this.

Off topic, but why would you import a common German made car, from Japan?
That sounds very expensive to me!

No idea. It was imported in 2010 by a previous owner.

I'm going to bump this and ask if anyone had any luck with this?

I have this in my new car and only want to change the time on the head unit

Hard to tell from the photo of that, but the UK satnav unit from 2007 is the double-din RNS-E. It's fine, but a bit old-hat now.

Unless you're an originality fetishist, something like this Pioneer is a better choice, https://www.pioneer-car.eu/uk/products/sph-da250da...
