Clutch...should I or not
Discussion
If the engine is out anyway should I have the clutch changed at the same time? Still on the original @ 43k miles, the reason I'm wavering is it still has a good smooth take up, the bite point hasn't changed much and there is no problem engaging gear.
So I suppose the question is aimed at those with a high mileage on their original clutch, when it eventually went did it go suddenly or was there a gradual degradation. I'm just really curious as to how long it will last.

You're lucky, mine needed replacing at about 13k as the fingers had pretty much disintegrated. If you do change it make sure you do the slave at the same time, cheap part but expensive on labour and bound to go just as it's all put back together.
However, if all is good why bother? You won't save a huge amount of money having it done now, only a couple of hundred in labour as suggested above.
