hi fellas, been lurking here in the tiv section for a bit now as i am looking scratch the t350 itch-a few basic questions please-

does the speed six need to drink optimax/98?

are the sevicing reqirements 6k/12k with the 12k being the valve adjustment?costs.

what sort of running costs pa aside from insurance/fuel assuming about 6-8k pa,always used to allow £2k pa on the lotus-is this about right?

Can run on 95, but I always run Premium.

12 months/6k miles - major is around £750 and minor £4-500 IIRC.

Budget £2-3k a year and you shouldn't have any surprises.

Mine has had a rebuild and the TVRPower terms say it has to be run on premium

If you are a low mileage driver some TVR specialists do an interim 6k miles service. Shop around, but its circa £350 for 6k, £600 for 12k and £200 for interim 6k

Other running costs are bits and pieces, usually small items that add up especially with the labour required to fit them. My last service and MOT was £1500 (interim 6k service), rolling road tuning, handbrake cable, steering column bearing (cheap part, lots of labour), thorough check over as it was the first service in my ownership.

As well as service costs budget for clutches around 20k though you may well not need one. These are about £1100 fitted including a new slave.
Engine mounts are practically a service item every 12k due to the heat the S6 produces so again add the cost of these to the budget (can't remember how much).
Then theres the add ons that always seem to appear at service time, seals, bushes, electrical niggles etc. My car is also due a gearbox rebuild in June due to worn synchros - about £7-800 on top though this is not that common.
An annual budget 2-3k is about right, some years you'll only use half, others you'll use a little more - similar I guess to your old car?
As for fuel, they can run on normal unleaded, though I tend to only use it if nothing else is available.
